How Does the Heart Work?

Curiosity trigger

Students will find out how their own heart pumps blood. They will perform an experiment to check what happens to the heart when it is sick; and they will watch a film featuring an engineer who created an invention that fixed his own heart.

In this lesson, you will cover:

Basic Science and Technology.Primary 6.YOU AND ENVIRONMENT.The Human Body (Circulatory System).objectives: 1. Identify the components of human circulatory system. 2. Name parts of the human heart and major blood vessels. 3. Compare the arteries, veins and capillaries to identify differences between them. 4. State the function of the - Heart - Blood - Blood vessels i.e. (arteries and veins). 5. Explain how food materials are distributed to other parts of the body by the blood.

You will need

Tubes, bowls, funnels, red juice, pig hearts (optional).
