The students will make papel picados - colorful decorations which are suspended in streets in Mexico during festivals; they will also make a traditional birthday piñata, filled with candy, which they will try to smash with a stick during a movement game.

VA.Pr6.1.3.a. Identify and explain how and where different cultures record and illustrate stories and history of life through art
VA.Re10.1.4.a. Create works of art that reflect community cultural traditions.
You will need
Crepe paper, masking tape, scissors, balloons, glue, brush, stick, old newspapers, candies.
